- Nenamark 2: Motorola Moto E- 48.7, Micromax Unite 2- 63.4
So we have some good things and some bad things for both the mobiles, so now start the war
1. On the basis of box contents Micromax Unite 2 is the winner with a USB 2.0 data sync. and charging cable inside it which Moto E lacks and all other the same.
2. Now coming to the 2nd point Moto E available in 2 colors Black & White and with 9 different color back panels, and Micromax Unite 2 available in only Black color and with 4 different color back panels.
3. Now on the basis of Hardware specification we saw that both are 3G devices with duel sim support, same number of sensors,A-GPS support, 4GB internal memory, 1GB ram, 32GB MicroSD card supported
now coming on what is different on each of them
- Moto E features a 4.3 inch TFT screen with 256ppi and Gorilla Glass on it where Unite 2 has a 4.7 inch IPS panel with 199ppi
We have seen that the Moto E have a crisp display where Unite 2 have a brighter bigger IPS display but one thing i have to tell you that you will not notice any pixel drop in Unite 2 unless you see the display of both mobiles side by side and Moto E has Gorilla Glass protection on it so their is no need to worry about scratches and also equiped with anti smudge coating but who want to go for a bigger display they can go with Unite 2, another difference is in the build quality Moto E has a better build quality but I an not discouraging Unite 2 it also has a good build quality.
- On the CPU and GPU performance, Moto E has a entry level processor on it but Unite 2 has a medium level processor, but both the phones work fluid when day to day usage is concerned you will not notice any lag in both of the mobiles
- Now coming to the camera part I have noticed that the 5MP auto focus camera in Unite 2 beats the 5MP camera of Moto E. The pictures captured in Unite 2 is slightely better than Moto E. Not only that Unite 2 has a Front facing 2MP FF camera for video calling and chat or for self pic which Moto E lacks.
- On the Battery part I personally don't prefer the Non-removable battery. If your battery runs out then if its user replaceable you can replace it easily but for Moto E you have to go to the Service center to get it replaced.
- One of the added advantage of Unite 2 is that apps can be directly installed in the MicroSd card but a Move option is available for Moto E but you can't install very large games on Moto E if its size exceeds the internal memory
Now coming on the benchmark scores you have seen the chart and its telling that Unite 2 beats the Moto E in benchmark scores. One of the biggest problem of Moto E is only one re-seller is selling the handset in India and most of the time it gets out of stoke but many re-sellers are selling Unite 2 so its not a problem for this mobile. So its upon you decide it whether you want a solid build quality device with pure android experience or you want a device with big brighter screen, good camera and slightly higher processor.

GORILLA® GLASS TECHONOLOGY
GORILLA® GLASS – A marketing strategy or Reality?
At present most of the premium &
high end devices comes with the Gorilla Glass protection for example the Lumia devices,
Motorola devices, Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, I-Phone devices, not only that mobile
manufacturers try putting the Gorilla Glass protection on the low end &
budget devices also. So question comes, is this deserves what you are paying or
just a marketing strategy to grab attention of the consumers.
I am Sourav Patra putting light on today’s discussion about
the Gorilla Glass – a strategy or fact!
Starting our discussion from a simple story when we
enters into a mobile shop and the sales-person talking about the features of a
mobile showing the mobile in his hand and at some point he tells that the
device comes with Gorilla Glass protection that is it is scratch resistant and
damage resistant if it drops from your hand or from a table.
So all we know from that sales-person that this particular
Gorilla Glass is more damage resistant than an ordinary glass then the question
comes,
1
- What is actually a Gorilla Glass?
- Is it really true that it can hold more damages than a normal glass?
- What are this Gorilla Glass 1, 2, 3 means and which should I choose?
Now coming to the 1st question
1. What is Gorilla Glass?
It is an alkali-aluminosilicate sheet
toughened glass. It is manufactured by Corning Inc. under the registered
trademark name “Gorilla Glass”.
Now we know that what is Gorilla Glass now entering into
the 2nd question
2. Is it really true that it can hold more damages than a normal glass?
Yes it do, Corning claims that it is highly
scratch resistant due to a protective layer on it and have high hardness to
withstand damages than an ordinary glass.
3. What
are this Gorilla Glass 1, 2, 3 means and which should I choose?
Gorilla Glass 1: Don’t know the exact
date of introduction of it into the mobile market it is somehow around 2010. At
that time approximately 20 percent of the total devices have Gorilla Glass
protection on it. Lumia 900, or I-Phone have this Gorilla Glass I on it.
Gorilla Glass 2: The 2nd
generation of Gorilla Glass was introduced in the 4th quarter of the
year 2012.Corning claims that it is 20% thinner than the 1st generation of Gorilla Glass.
But I have heard people complaining that
2nd generation has been a downgrade in quality, there are scratches
on the screen. Certainly it is not actually it has an oleophobic coating on it (not in 1st
generation) so scratches are on the coating not in the glass.
Gorilla Glass 3: The 3rd
generation was introduced in 2013. Corning claims that it to be three times
more damage resistant, 40% more scratch resistant and more flexible than the 2nd
generation of Gorilla Glass.

IPS (In-plane switching) LCD
As of now only one mobile device have the technology inside it that is LG G-Flex. This technology is putting an OLED screen on a very thin flexible plastic sheet. Lightweight and flexible are the key features of this display technology.
It has all the advantages that a OLED display have that is great viewing angels, power efficient, sunlight readability, good colour saturation. In addition this is lightweight and bendable.

Mobile Display Technologies
Now a days
mobile display technology is rapidly changing users want their mobile screen to
be more sharp, more vivid more accurate in colours to increase their viewing
experience. Companies are spending lots of money to the R&D of mobile
display technology to give their users a next level of viewing experience on their mobile screens.
I am Sourav
Patra introducing you to the amazing development of the mobile display
technology featuring a wide discussion over the performance and visual
experience of the mobile display technologies.
STN(Super-Twisted Nematic) LCD
I am sure that 90% of the people didn’t heard
about this mobile display technology before, remember your 1st phone, people
used to call them black and white display mobile phones. Yes some of them have
a black and white display but most of them are not that is some of them they have a
yellow-black display.
Now the
question comes how this display works, let me explain it to you most of you
aware of the pixels, this display technology also have pixels which emits only
one light so doing a combination that certain amount of pixels light up and the
rest is off a picture can be created in the display.
Now come to the performance and visual experience part STN
LCDs are less costly and more power efficient than TFT LCDs. STN displays have
a lower image quality and slower response time than TFT displays. However, STN
LCDs can be made purely reflective for viewing under direct sunlight.
CSTN ( Colour super-twisted nematic)LCD
It’s a colour form of passive-matrix liquid crystal display developed by
Sharp Electronics. It uses Red, Green & Blue filters to display colours.
On Left STN&on Right CSTN |
Now coming to the performance and visual experience parameters those are
same as that of the STN LCDs but newer CSTN LCDs offer better response time of
100ms (TFT LCD displays gave 8ms or less)
TFT(Thin Film Transistor) LCD
It is one of the best display technologies giving good
colour reproduction and quick response time. It is an active-matrix technology
giving a transistor located next to each pixel, allowing the pixel to switch on
or off individually. For example Samsung Galaxy Star Pro, HTC Desire 310 uses
TFT LCD screens.
Talking about the performance and visual experience it has a faster
response time and great colour contrast but it also consumes more power than
the other display technologies. It is costly too.
IPS (In-plane switching) LCD
This is a
quite new technology used in mobile devices. IPS LCDs are a little bit
different from the TFT LCDs. In an IPS LCD there are two transistors located
next to each pixel while in TFT there is only 1 transistor for each pixel and
IPS displays requires a bit powerful backlight which gives the advantage of more
accurate colour and wide viewing angel. For example Nokia Lumia devices use this display.
In the
performance and visual section an IPS display delivers more accurate colour
with wide viewing angle. But it has a downside also it consumes more power than
a similar size of TFT display.
Retina Display
It is
nothing but an IPS LCD display with higher resolution. It is a brand name or
marketing technique by Apple that retina displays are those displays with higher
pixel density that human eyes can’t identify each pixels from a standard
viewing distance. For a mobile device Apple has decided that 326ppi (Pixels Per
Inch) will do the work that human eyes can’t identify individual pixel.
Coming to
the performance and visual experience as the pixel density is high so the texts,
images looks sharper delivering a greater viewing experience.
AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode)
High End mobile devices like Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5 uses this technology. This Display technology is developed by Samsung. Actually the parent technology is OLED, it has two subparts one is Passive-Matrix OLED another is AMOLED.
AMOLED has added advantages over its counterpart PMOLED in higher refresh rates and less
power consumption. Samsung develops this technology for the mobile devices
where power consumption is a critical factor to the battery life.
People may
heard of Super AMOLED, Super AMOLED Advance, Super AMOLED PLUS etc. these are some
of the marketing terms used by the mobile device manufacturers. Super AMOLED is
a display with integrated digitizer and Samsung says that Super AMOLED reflects
one-fifth as much sunlight compared to the first generation AMOLED.
Major
advantage of OLED displays over the LCDs are they produce their own light where
LCDs require a bright backlight.
Now entering
into the conclusion section
Does the
AMOLED performs as said or not?
Yes, it do it
got a great colour reproduction with good colour saturation, wide viewing
angels, better direct sunlight readability and consumes less amount of power
than the other display technologies. The downside is its costly too that’s why
only premium devices or high end devices comes with this display.
P-OLED (Plastic OLED)
As of now only one mobile device have the technology inside it that is LG G-Flex. This technology is putting an OLED screen on a very thin flexible plastic sheet. Lightweight and flexible are the key features of this display technology.
LG G-FLEX |
Samsung is also developing this technology under the brand name of YOUM Flexible calling it Flexible OLED.
Flexible OLED by Samsung |
It has all the advantages that a OLED display have that is great viewing angels, power efficient, sunlight readability, good colour saturation. In addition this is lightweight and bendable.
